Piedmont Cardiology was established in 1996 to provide diagnostic and treatment services for cardiovasular diseases in the Lakelands Area, and to provide one stop for all your cardiovascular care. In order to determine the level of treatment required for our patients, we perform comprehensive evaluations. Here at Piedmont Cardiology we focus on individual care in our new state of the art facility. Appointments are accepted by physician referral.

Carolina Neurosurgery and Spine Center, P.A. has been providing exceptional care to patients since 1997 when we first opened our doors in Greenwood, South Carolina. Our board-certified physicians are highly trained in state-of-the-art technology to provide our patients neurosurgical care that is ranked in the top-five percent in the nation.
Our physicians are Dr. Michael Kilburn, who joined the practice June 1999, Dr. Sumeer Lal , who came to us July 2004 and, our newest addition, Dr. Gregory McLoughlin, who joined us September 2010. Our physicians are adept in providing outstanding management of neck, back and brain injury and disease through both surgical and nonsurgical means.
We are proud to be part of the South Carolina Spine Center at Self Regional Healthcare. The South Carolina Spine Center provides faster, more efficient patient care through a newly developed, streamlined process in which one of our neurosurgeons will review your case individually and recommend the most appropriate level of treatment, including operative and non-operative measures. The hospital recently added intraoperative CT scanning (Brainlab iCT) for targeting and verification of spinal implant placement and navigation for cranial neurosurgery. This is the only such equipped operating room in the Southeast and only the fourth in the U.S.
We reserve surgery for patients who have received no benefit from other treatment options.
Self Regional Healthcare began as Self Memorial Hospital in 1951 and was built to be one of the most advanced hospitals in the country. Local business leader and philanthropist James C. Self personally oversaw the construction and recruited top physicians from across the country. By Act 1554 of 1968, the State Legislature established Greenwood County Hospital Board (the “Board”). In 1969 the Trustees of Self Memorial Hospital conveyed the hospital facilities to Greenwood County which leased them to the Board by long term lease. The Board (appointed by the governor) operates Self Regional Healthcare as a governmental hospital. Mr. Self’s commitment to advanced care with leading-edge technology continues today. The difference is that we’ve grown into a major referral and medical center that provides advanced healthcare services to a population of more than a quarter of a million people. At one time or another, everyone in the surrounding seven counties has been touched by Self. From a broken arm, to the birth of a child or chemotherapy, Self was always there. And we’re still close to home with the latest technology and finest doctors. To separate Self from the community would be impossible.
